Fighting off Sickness

It’s that time of the year again when people are coming back to Laramie after a long break. Everyone is bringing back newfound energy, luggage, and possibly a couple of germs. So, to start the New Year right and avoid catching a bug, I’m going to share a couple of tips to help you stay healthy and happy.

To start off, reducing stress is a great way to prevent getting sick this season. Having a lot of stress is proven to decrease the strength of your immune system and increase the chance of getting a cold. Make sure that you are taking time out of your day to relax and do an activity that you enjoy, whether that is going to the gym, knitting, watching a movie, reading a book or listening to music.

Getting lots of sleep at night is a fantastic way of helping your body cool down. Sleeping for seven to nine hours a night builds up your white blood cell count and super powers your immune system to fight off colds.

In addition to those tips, the basic staples of cleanliness still hold true. Make sure you wash your hands frequently and cough or sneeze into your elbow to prevent the spread of germs. This will help you remain energetic and healthy for a successful year.
